Saheeh International

Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allāh, the best of creators.

Wahiduddin Khan

Shabbir Ahmed

Then We fashioned the gametes into zygote, a clot, then the hanging little lump, the embryo. Then We created bones within the embryonic lump, and then clothed the bones with flesh. 23:19

Saheeh International

And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat.

Wahiduddin Khan

We have produced palm-groves and vineyards for you, in which there are abundant fruits for you; and you eat these

And from it, We produce for you gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein you have abundant fruit and you eat thereof

23:20

Saheeh International

And indeed, for you in livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are numerous benefits, and from them you eat.

Wahiduddin Khan

You have a lesson in livestock. We provide you with drink from what is in their bellies, and you have many other benefits from them; some of them you eat

Shabbir Ahmed

And, behold, in the cattle too there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies. You derive many benefits from them, and also consume their meat

23:22

Saheeh International

And upon them and on ships you are carried.

Wahiduddin Khan

and you ride on them as you do in ships

Shabbir Ahmed

On them and on the ships you are carried

23:23

Saheeh International

And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"

Wahiduddin Khan

We sent Noah to his people, and he said, "My people, worship God; you have no other deity except Him. Will you not fear Him

Shabbir Ahmed

(We took care of your physical and mental needs.) And, indeed, We sent (Our first Prophet), Noah to his people and he said, "O My people! Serve Allah. You have no god other than Him. Will you not then be mindful of Him and walk aright

23:24

Saheeh International

But the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "This is not but a man like yourselves who wishes to take precedence over you; and if Allāh had willed [to send a messenger], He would have sent down angels. We have not heard of this among our forefathers.

Wahiduddin Khan

The leaders of his people who denied the truth, said, "He is only a human being like yourselves who wants to make himself superior to you. If God had wished, He would have sent down angels. We never heard about this from our forefathers

Shabbir Ahmed

But the leaders among his community who refused to acknowledge the Truth, said, "This is only a man like you who wants to become prominent among you. God could have sent angels if He willed (to convey a message to us). We never heard this from our forefathers

23:25

Saheeh International

He is not but a man possessed with madness, so wait concerning him for a time."

Wahiduddin Khan

He is only a madman, so, as far as he is concerned wait for a while

Shabbir Ahmed

He is nothing but a madman, so watch him for a while

23:26

Saheeh International

[Noah] said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me."

Wahiduddin Khan

Noah said, "My Lord, help me! for they have rejected me

Shabbir Ahmed

Said he, "My Lord! Help me, for they accuse me of lying

23:27

Saheeh International

So We inspired to him, "Construct the ship under Our observation and Our inspiration, and when Our command comes and the oven overflows, put into it [i.e., the ship] from each [creature] two mates and your family, except him for whom the decree [of destruction] has proceeded. And do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned.

Wahiduddin Khan

then We revealed Our will to him: "Build the Ark under Our watchful eye according to Our instructions. When Our command comes, and waters gush up out of the earth, take on board pairs of every species and members of your household, except for any of them on whom sentence has already been passed -- do not plead with Me for those who have done wrong: they shall be drowned

Shabbir Ahmed

Then We revealed unto him thus, "Build, under Our eyes and according to Our revealed instructions, the ark. Then, as Our Command comes to pass and the torrent gushes forth, take on board a couple each of the domesticated animals. As well as your family and followers except him against whom the Word has already gone forth (for his persistent denial). And do not plead with Me on behalf of the oppressors. Verily, they will be drowned

23:28

Saheeh International

And when you have boarded the ship, you and those with you, then say, 'Praise to Allāh who has saved us from the wrongdoing people.'

Wahiduddin Khan

When you and all your followers have settled in the Ark, say, "Praise be to God who has delivered us from a wicked people

Shabbir Ahmed

When you have settled in the ship along with your companions, say, "All Praise is due to Allah Who has saved us from the oppressors

23:29

Saheeh International

And say, 'My Lord, let me land at a blessed landing place, and You are the best to accommodate [us].'"

Wahiduddin Khan

and say, 'My Lord, let me land with Your blessing in a blessed landing place. You alone can provide the best landings

Shabbir Ahmed

And say, "O My Sustainer! Enable me to disembark with Your blessing. You are the Best Director of destinations

23:30

Saheeh International

Indeed in that are signs, and indeed, We are ever testing [Our servants].

Wahiduddin Khan

Surely there are clear signs in that. In this way We put people to the test

Shabbir Ahmed

Behold, herein are Messages indeed, for Our Law keeps testing nations (for viability)

23:31

Saheeh International

Then We produced after them a generation of others.

Wahiduddin Khan

Then We raised another generation after them

Shabbir Ahmed

(And after those people of old) We gave rise to new generations

23:32

Saheeh International

And We sent among them a messenger from themselves, [saying], "Worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him; then will you not fear Him?"

Wahiduddin Khan

and sent a messenger to them from among themselves: "Worship God alone. You have no deity other than Him. Will you not then fear God

Shabbir Ahmed

And always We sent to them a Messenger of their own. (Without exception each of these Messengers said), "Serve Allah. You have no god other than Him. Will you not then be mindful of Him and walk aright

23:33

Saheeh International

And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink.

Wahiduddin Khan

But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink

Shabbir Ahmed

(And invariably) it was their leaders who refused to acknowledge the Truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter. Simply because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life. Every time such people would say, "This is only a man like you who eats what you eat and drinks as you drink

23:34

Saheeh International

And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers.

Wahiduddin Khan

if you obey a human being just like yourselves, then you will surely be lost

Shabbir Ahmed

And indeed, if you obey a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers

23:35

Saheeh International

Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]?

Wahiduddin Khan

Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again

Shabbir Ahmed

Does he promise you that, after you die and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth again

23:36

Saheeh International

How far, how far, is that which you are promised.

Wahiduddin Khan

What you are promised is indeed far-fetched

Shabbir Ahmed

Impossible, impossible indeed, is what you are promised

23:37

Saheeh International

It [i.e., life] is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected.

Wahiduddin Khan

There exists only our present life: we die and we live [but once], and shall never be raised up again

Shabbir Ahmed

There is nothing but our life of this world. We die and we live, and we shall not be raised again. (We see people dying and children being born every day)

23:38

Saheeh International

He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allāh, and we will not believe him."

Wahiduddin Khan

He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him

Shabbir Ahmed

He is just a man who has invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to believe in him

23:39

Saheeh International

He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me."

Wahiduddin Khan

The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me

Shabbir Ahmed

(Whereupon the Messenger) would say, "My Lord! Help me, for they accuse me of lying

23:40

Saheeh International

[Allāh] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful."

Wahiduddin Khan

God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret

Shabbir Ahmed

(And Allah) would say, "In a little while they will be sorry

23:41

Saheeh International

So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people.

Wahiduddin Khan

The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people

Shabbir Ahmed

And then the Blast of (Our Requital) overtook them, justly and inevitably, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves. (11:68). And so - away with people who wronged their own "Self

23:42

Saheeh International

Then We produced after them other generations.

Wahiduddin Khan

Then We raised up other generations after them

Shabbir Ahmed

Then after them We brought forth other generations

23:43

Saheeh International

No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter].

Wahiduddin Khan

no community can advance or postpone its appointed time

Shabbir Ahmed

No nation can advance its term, nor delay it. (The Laws of the rise and fall of nations are unchangeable (7:34), (1)

23:44

Saheeh International

Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe.

Wahiduddin Khan

then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe

Shabbir Ahmed

We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to a nation, they denied him. Our Law of Requital caused them to follow one another in disaster, and We made them history. And so - away with people who would not believe

23:45

Saheeh International

Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority

Wahiduddin Khan

Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority

Shabbir Ahmed

Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Messages and a clear authority from Us

23:46

Saheeh International

To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people.

Wahiduddin Khan

to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people

Shabbir Ahmed

To Pharaoh and his chiefs; but they showed arrogance. For, they were megalomaniacs

23:47

Saheeh International

They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?"

Wahiduddin Khan

They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us

Shabbir Ahmed

And so they said, "Shall we believe in these two mortals like us whose nation are our slaves

23:48

Saheeh International

So they denied them and were of those destroyed.

Wahiduddin Khan

So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed

Shabbir Ahmed

Thus they denied them, and earned their place among the doomed

23:49

Saheeh International

And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided.

Wahiduddin Khan

We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided

Shabbir Ahmed

For, indeed, We had given Moses the Scripture, that they might go aright

23:50

Saheeh International

And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water.

Wahiduddin Khan

We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring

Shabbir Ahmed

And We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol (of Our Grace). And, We gave them abode on an elevated resort, affording rest and security and fresh water springs. (As they migrated from Canaan after the attempted crucifixion)

23:51

Saheeh International

[Allāh said], "O messengers, eat from the good foods and work righteousness. Indeed I, of what you do, am Knowing.

Wahiduddin Khan

Messengers, eat what is wholesome and do good deeds: I am well aware of what you do

Shabbir Ahmed

(This was a brief resume of some of Our Messengers. We had said to them), "O Messengers! Partake of the decent things of life and work for the betterment of humanity. Verily, I am Aware of what you do

23:52

Saheeh International

And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me."

Wahiduddin Khan

Your religion is but one religion -- and I am your only Lord, therefore, fear Me

Shabbir Ahmed

And verily, this community of yours is one community and I am your Sustainer. So, walk aright remaining conscious of Me." (Since all Messengers were one Brotherhood unanimous in purpose, all mankind must consider one another as brothers and sisters)

23:53

Saheeh International

But they [i.e., the people] divided their religion among them into portions [i.e., sects] - each faction, in what it has, rejoicing.

Wahiduddin Khan

Yet they divided themselves into factions, each rejoicing in what they had

Shabbir Ahmed

But they (who claim to follow you O Messengers) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece into disputing factions, each faction rejoicing in its beliefs

23:54

Saheeh International

So leave them in their confusion for a time.

Wahiduddin Khan

So leave them in their bewilderment for a while

Shabbir Ahmed

But leave them alone, lost in their ignorance until a time. (And the Truth will ultimately prevail (22:17)

23:55

Saheeh International

Do they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children

Wahiduddin Khan

Do they imagine that the wealth and children We have provided

Shabbir Ahmed

Do they think that, since We continue to provide them with wealth and children

23:56

Saheeh International

Is [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive.

Wahiduddin Khan

have no other purpose except to help them in acquiring material benefits? No indeed. But they do not understand

Shabbir Ahmed

We are being swift to them with good things? Nay, but they perceive not

23:57

Saheeh International

Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord

Wahiduddin Khan

Those who tremble with fear of their Lord

Shabbir Ahmed

(It is people who must hasten to do good and become worthy of good things.) Verily, those who are reverently conscious of their Lord

23:58

Saheeh International

And they who believe in the signs of their Lord

Wahiduddin Khan

and believe in His messages

Shabbir Ahmed

And those who have conviction in the Messages of their Lord

23:59

Saheeh International

And they who do not associate anything with their Lord

Wahiduddin Khan

and do not ascribe partners to Him

Shabbir Ahmed

And those who do not associate anyone with Him

23:60

Saheeh International

And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord -

Wahiduddin Khan

and those who give to others what has been bestowed upon them with their hearts trembling at the thought that they must return to their Lord

Shabbir Ahmed

And those who give (in the Cause of Allah of their wealth and person) whatever they can, and are still afraid (that they have not done enough and) because they have to return to their Lord

23:61

Saheeh International

It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein.

Wahiduddin Khan

it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so

Shabbir Ahmed

It is they who race with one another to improve the quality of life for humanity, and it is they who are worthy of winning good things

23:62

Saheeh International

And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged.

Wahiduddin Khan

We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a record which clearly shows the truth and they will not be wronged

Shabbir Ahmed

We do not hold responsible any person beyond his or her capacity. Our Commands are meant to expand your human potential. (2:286), (6:153), (7:42). And with Us is the Database that speaks the Truth (about what you can and cannot do). And none shall de wronged

23:63

Saheeh International

But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides that [i.e., disbelief] which they are doing,

Wahiduddin Khan

But their hearts are heedless of this. Moreover, there are other deeds besides this which they do

Shabbir Ahmed

Nay, but their hearts are in ignorance of this Qur'an, and they are too busy doing other things and will keep doing so

23:64

Saheeh International

Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allāh] for help.

Wahiduddin Khan

But then when We seize the affluent among them, they will cry out for help

Shabbir Ahmed

When We grasp their rich elite with retribution, they will moan and groan

23:65

Saheeh International

Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped.

Wahiduddin Khan

Do not cry out for help this day, for surely you shall not be helped by Us

Shabbir Ahmed

Groan not in supplication this day! You will surely, not be helped by Us

23:66

Saheeh International

My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels.

Wahiduddin Khan

My revelations were recited to you, but you turned your backs

Shabbir Ahmed

My Messages were conveyed to you, but you used to turn back on your heels

23:67

Saheeh International

In arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil.

Wahiduddin Khan

in arrogance, as if you were abandoning a story-teller

Shabbir Ahmed

In arrogance, talking nonsense about these Verses like people telling fables far into the night

23:68

Saheeh International

Then have they not reflected over the word [i.e., the Qur’ān], or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers?

Wahiduddin Khan

Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers

Shabbir Ahmed

Have they not pondered the Word? Is the Revelation something that never came to their remote forefathers, ( Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, and others)

23:69

Saheeh International

Or did they not know their Messenger, so they are toward him disacknowledging?

Wahiduddin Khan

Or do they not recognize their Messenger, and so deny him

Shabbir Ahmed

Or do they not recognize their Messenger, that they deny him

23:70

Saheeh International

Or do they say, "In him is madness"? Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse.

Wahiduddin Khan

Do they say he is possessed? Rather he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth

Shabbir Ahmed

Or do they say, "There is madness in him?" Nay, he brings them the Truth, and most of them are haters of the Truth. (They want him to make compromises (10:15), (11:113), (1)

23:71

Saheeh International

But if the Truth [i.e., Allāh] had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away.

Wahiduddin Khan

If truth had followed their whims and desires, heavens and earth and all that lives in them would have been brought to ruin. Rather We have brought them their Reminder. Yet they keep avoiding their Reminder

Shabbir Ahmed

And if the Truth had followed their whims (2:120), verily the heavens and the earth and all beings therein would have fallen into ruin. Nay, We have given them their Reminder, but they turn away from their Reminder that can give them eminence. (7:176), (21:1)

23:72

Saheeh International

Or do you, [O Muḥammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers.

Wahiduddin Khan

Or are you asking them for any reward? But the reward of your Lord is the best, for He is the Best of Providers

Shabbir Ahmed

(O Messenger) Do you ask them for any tribute? (They must know that) your Sustainer's tribute is best, for, He is the Best of providers

23:73

Saheeh International

And indeed, you invite them to a straight path.

Wahiduddin Khan

and, most surely, you are calling them to a straight path

Shabbir Ahmed

And, verily, you call them onto a Straight Path

23:74

Saheeh International

But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path.

Wahiduddin Khan

But those who do not believe in the Hereafter have indeed deviated from that path

Shabbir Ahmed

But, behold, those who disbelieve in the life to come are bound to deviate from that Way

23:75

Saheeh International

And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.

Wahiduddin Khan

Even if We showed them mercy and relieved them of their afflictions, they would still persist in their transgression, wandering blindly

Shabbir Ahmed

Even if We had mercy on them and relieved them of their suffering, they would obstinately persist in their transgression wandering to and fro

23:76

Saheeh International

And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus]

Wahiduddin Khan

We seized them with the punishment, but they did not surrender to their Lord, nor will they humble themselves

Shabbir Ahmed

And, indeed, We tested them through suffering, but they did not humble themselves before their Lord, nor implored Him

23:77

Saheeh International

Until when We have opened before them a door of severe punishment, immediately they will be therein in despair.

Wahiduddin Khan

until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded

Shabbir Ahmed

Until when We open for them the gate of severe retribution, behold, they will be then completely demoralized

23:78

Saheeh International

And it is He who produced for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]; little are you grateful.

Wahiduddin Khan

It is He who gave you ears, eyes and hearts, yet how seldom you are grateful

Shabbir Ahmed

(O Mankind) He is the One Who has created for you hearing and sight, and mind (the faculties to perceive and conceive). But, how seldom do you show gratitude by really using them

23:79

Saheeh International

And it is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.

Wahiduddin Khan

He it is who has multiplied you on the earth and to Him you shall all be gathered

Shabbir Ahmed

And He it is Who has multiplied you on earth (as unity in diversity), and unto Him you will be gathered

23:80

Saheeh International

And it is He who gives life and causes death, and His is the alternation of the night and the day. Then will you not reason?

Wahiduddin Khan

He is the One who gives life and causes death and He controls the alternation of night and day. Will you not then understand

Shabbir Ahmed

And He it is Who gives life and death and to Him is due the alternation of Night and Day. Will you not, then, use your sense? (His Laws govern the life and death of individuals and nations, just as He alternates night and day)

23:81

Saheeh International

Rather, they say like what the former peoples said.

Wahiduddin Khan

But they say the same as the ancients said

Shabbir Ahmed

Nay, they say what the people of the olden times used to say

23:82

Saheeh International

They said, "When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

Wahiduddin Khan

When we have died and become dust and bones, will we be raised up again

Shabbir Ahmed

They say, "What! After we die and become mere dust and bones, shall we then, be raised again

23:83

Saheeh International

We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before; this is not but legends of the former peoples."

Wahiduddin Khan

We and our forefathers were promised this before. This is nothing but fables of the ancients

Shabbir Ahmed

Indeed, this we have been promised, we and our forefathers, long ago. These are nothing but tales of the ancient

23:84

Saheeh International

Say, [O Muḥammad], "To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you should know?"

Wahiduddin Khan

Say, "To whom do the earth and all therein belong? Tell me, if you have any knowledge

Shabbir Ahmed

Say, "Unto whom belongs the earth and all that lives thereon, if you happen to know

23:85

Saheeh International

They will say, "To Allāh." Say, "Then will you not remember?"

Wahiduddin Khan

They will say, "To God." Say, "So will you not pay heed

Shabbir Ahmed

They will reply "Unto Allah." Say, "Will you not then, bethink

23:86

Saheeh International

Say, "Who is Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne?"

Wahiduddin Khan

Say, "Who is the Lord of the seven heavens, and of the Glorious Throne

Shabbir Ahmed

Say, "Who is the Sustainer of the seven heavens and Lord of the Tremendous Throne?" (1)

23:87

Saheeh International

They will say, "[They belong] to Allāh." Say, "Then will you not fear Him?"

Wahiduddin Khan

They will say, "They belong to God." Say, "So do you not fear Him

Shabbir Ahmed

They will answer, "Unto Allah (all this belongs)." Say, "Will you not then be mindful of Him

23:88

Saheeh International

Say, "In whose hand is the realm of all things - and He protects while none can protect against Him - if you should know?"

Wahiduddin Khan

Say, "In whose hands lies sovereignty over all things, protecting all, while none can seek protection against Him? Tell me, if you have any knowledge

Shabbir Ahmed

Say, "In whose hand is the mighty Dominion over all things, and who protects, while against Him there is no protection? - If you happen to know the answer

23:89

Saheeh International

They will say, "[All belongs] to Allāh." Say, "Then how are you deluded?"

Wahiduddin Khan

They will say, "All this belongs to God." Say to them, "How are you then deluded

Shabbir Ahmed

They will reply, "Unto Allah (all that belongs)." Say, "How can you then belie yourselves

23:90

Saheeh International

Rather, We have brought them the truth, and indeed they are liars.

Wahiduddin Khan

We have revealed to them the truth. But they are certainly liars

Shabbir Ahmed

Nay, We have given them the Truth, yet, behold, they are intent upon lying to themselves. (Acceptance of His Rule in their lives hurts their vested interests (21)

23:91

Saheeh International

Allāh has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have [sought to] overcome others. Exalted is Allāh above what they describe [concerning Him].

Wahiduddin Khan

God has not taken to Himself a son, nor is there any other deity besides Him; otherwise, each god would have walked away with what he had created. They would surely have tried to overcome one another. Glory be to God, above all that they ascribe to Him

Shabbir Ahmed

Never did God take unto Himself a son, nor was ever any god beside Him. For, had there been any, each god would have taken along its creation and overcome the other. Allah is High Above all that they allege

23:92

Saheeh International

[He is] Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, so high is He above what they associate [with Him].

Wahiduddin Khan

Knower of the unseen and the visible; He is exalted above all that which they associate with Him

Shabbir Ahmed

Knower of the Invisible and the Visible! And Exalted He is above the partners they attribute to Him

23:93

Saheeh International

Say, [O Muḥammad], "My Lord, if You should show me that which they are promised,

Wahiduddin Khan

Pray, "Lord, if you would show me that [the punishment] of which they have been warned

Shabbir Ahmed

(The believer should) pray, "My Lord! If you let me witness (in my life-time) what the wrongdoers are warned against

23:94

Saheeh International

My Lord, then do not place me among the wrongdoing people."

Wahiduddin Khan

then do not place me, Lord, with the wrongdoers

Shabbir Ahmed

My Lord! Then let me not be among them

23:95

Saheeh International

And indeed, We are Able to show you what We have promised them.

Wahiduddin Khan

We certainly have the power to show you what they have been warned about

Shabbir Ahmed

For, behold, We are Able to show you that against which they are warned

23:96

Saheeh International

Repel, by [means of] what is best, [their] evil. We are most knowing of what they describe.

Wahiduddin Khan

Repel evil with what is best, We are well aware of the things they say

Shabbir Ahmed

(Nevertheless), counter evil with something that is better. We are best Aware of what others say and do

23:97

Saheeh International

And say, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils,

Wahiduddin Khan

and say, "My Lord, I seek refuge with You from the prompting of the devils

Shabbir Ahmed

And say, "My Lord! I seek refuge with you from the prompting of the satanic forces of dissension (in my heart and among the enemy)

23:98

Saheeh International

And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me."

Wahiduddin Khan

I seek refuge with You, Lord, lest they should come near me

Shabbir Ahmed

And I seek refuge with you, my Lord, lest they come near me

23:99

Saheeh International

[For such is the state of the disbelievers] until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back

Wahiduddin Khan

When death comes to any of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back

Shabbir Ahmed

(Those who keep belying themselves), when death comes to one of them, say, "My Lord! Send me back" (2)

23:100

Saheeh International
